A combination of a high-pressure (anticyclonic) system and a dense cloud of Saharan dust kept temperatures scorching across most of the Dominican Republic over the weekend. The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) warns that maximum temperatures this summer will continue to hover between 33°C and 35°C (91°F to 95°F), creating oppressive heat conditions nationwide.

According to the official forecast from Indomet, these atmospheric conditions will yield mostly clear skies and stable weather throughout the day. However, early morning travelers and residents in the eastern and northeastern provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, Samaná, and El Seibo should prepare for brief, passing showers.

The 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 inaugural is on Friday, 24 July. The Games will run until 8 August.
